Bespoke EP - Collector Edition (update)

When I released this limited edition EP, the one that rounded off my old alias and now dead name "Tom Algorithm", I ran a little competition. First person to spot an error that had slipped through onto the physical release would win the next release as a one and only record. Well, two and only, one for the winner, one for me. I like having a copy for personal reasons. To mark moments. To see where I've been and remind myself why I do this at all.

That was kind of the whole vibe of the release, actually. Absorbing moments properly, appreciating the people in your life, because nothing is infinite. And that in itself does something strange to my brain, because nothing is infinite too. Both things are true at the same time, and so many things we take for granted are quietly, definitely finite.

The error itself? The message read "nothing is finite." And to this day I'm genuinely unsure why so many people still thought that made sense, even though what I meant to say was "nothing is infinite." That double meaning, with that much contrast sitting between two opposing ideas. Infinite contrast, you could say.

I love a think. Scary sometimes, best avoided in certain moods, but that's exactly why I love it. It's probably the deepest hole you can fall into, and I find a lot of people don't really want to go near it. Reality, why, how, what is actually going on. It's completely normal and utterly absurd at exactly the same time.

Anyway.

This next release will be an EP, not quite a full album, somewhere around five tracks, ish. Digital only, but with two records pressed. One for the winner, one for my collection, not for sale. Just for the sake of having it.

It's getting close to done, which is where it always gets hardest. Knowing when to stop. Knowing when it's ready.

I will do more of these, but not every release. Sometimes I just want to put something out into the world without a whole thing attached to it. Next time there'll be a few more up for grabs. If owning genuinely rare records is your kind of thing, that's probably a good reason to get on my mailing list. Those people will get priority.
